This hand woven, luxurious 'Huipil' or dress is created in San Juan Colorado, Oaxaca. Each style is hand crafted with natural dyes and woven into 100% cotton cloth using the ancient weaving technique of a backstop loom. This teal blue and whitestriped dress is accented in multi-colored embroidered floralmotifs, withscalloped red piping at the neckline, sleeve and hem, this one of a kind dress brightens any wardrobe.
It can take up to one month to make a single piece, not including the time spent boiling the dyes, hand cleaning and spinning yarn andembroidering. This lengthy process iswhy these dresses are limited, rare and one of a kind. Many dye plants are seasonal and can only be found during certain months. No two are the same making each Huipil completely original.
This sustainable and responsible process is created by a circle of indigenous womenwho are paid fair wages and are able to support theirfamilies while passing down their cultural traditions to the following generation.
